NEW NCIM MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATION
In an effort to reach out to a larger group of professional meteorologists, the National Council of Industrial Meteorologists [NCIM] has selected to add a membership classification of "Associate Member". An Associate member is a meteorologist who is on a career track to becoming a full member of NCIM. This new membership classification is for the student or recent graduate who plans to pursue a career in Industrial Meteorology, or for the University or government employee who wishes to eventually pursue a career in this field. This membership is also for the young Broadcast meteorologist who is interested in performing consulting services in the private sector. The Associate member should plan to enter the Industrial field in the next 5 years. This gives the meteorologist who does not have the five years of experience required to qualify for a CCM of the American Meteorological Society a place to find mentors, and network with very experienced meteorologists who can pass on vast amounts of meteorological knowledge.
